1,000 by September 1 !!

Louisiana CASA has recruited 542 members to its Facebook cause!  Help us reach 1,000 by September 1 !!

Why?

Because tonight over 5,000 Louisiana children cannot go home. Tomorrow, you can be the voice for 1 of these abused children.

Because as you know anyONE can change the world!

Each year thousands of children in every Louisiana parish enter into foster care because they were innocent victims of abuse or neglect. You can be the 1 to help an abused child in YOUR parish.

A Court Appointed Special Advocate or CASA helps an abused child by learning about his or her case and speaking up for the child’s best interests.  Everyday people can be a CASA.

Help us spread the word

Child abuse/neglect increases the risk of arrest as a juvenile by 55% and the risk of committing a violent crime by 96%. Many youth in the child welfare system “cross over” into the juvenile justice and other systems.

LACASA will be co-hosting an important Court Improvement Program Training on this subject on June 25, 2010 in Mandeville, LA.  Click the link to “Event Registration” for more information.

Below you will also find links to a two-part series on “Crossover” Youth that was written by Shay Bilchik and Judge Michael Nash.
