CASA of NELA does not have any kind of mental health assessment for potential volunteers. Our Advocate Services Coordinator is the point person in our office who takes care of potential applicants. She sets up pre-service interviews and goes in depth during those interviews. However, that is not the end of our vetting process. We continue to monitor potential volunteers as we train them. If there are concerns that we have during pre-service training, we bring them in to address those issues in real time. We have "dismissed" a volunteer even at the last pre-service training class for not being a good fit.
