Building Strong Children and Families
Louisiana is kicking off our virtual learning series titled Building Strong Children and Families on August 25, 2022. Building Strong Children and Families will be online and presented by a statewide network of subject matter experts with first-hand experience working in the child welfare field. The educational series is free and open to all residents in Louisiana. It will be especially beneficial for CASA volunteers, social workers, educators, attorneys, judges, government officials, caregivers, and caring community members.
Building Strong Children and Families will feature a variety of topics focused on child development, protective factors, strengthening children and families, and building stronger communities. The first learning session, The Importance of the Early Years with guest speaker
Dr. Charles Zeanah, will be held on August 25th at 11:30AM. The presentation will emphasize that the rapidity of early brain development in infants creates both opportunity and vulnerability. Participants will understand how early experiences get built into the developing brain and growing body, powerfully influencing cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being throughout life.
