Fostering Resilient Families

By fostering resiliency in families, we can help to create a strong foundation for healthy development and prevent the negative effects of stress and adversity on children and families. One way to foster resiliency is to provide families with resources and support to help them cope with stress and adversity. This presentation will focus on the program, My Community Cares, and its work to connect families to resources for basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing, along with additional help finding resources for employment, parenting classes, or financial management.

About the Speaker: Destiny Fatula

Destiny Fatula is the Parish Director for My Community Cares in Rapides Parish. She oversees the daily operations of the organization. In this role, she works closely with community partners, agencies, and stakeholders to connect families to vital resources, services, and supports, thereby strengthening communities and fostering positive change. Destiny is currently pursuing a BS in Psychology at Louisiana State University at Alexandria. With a deep commitment to serving others that have had adverse childhood experiences and enhancing community well-being, Destiny has over 12 years of experience advocating for children in Foster Care as a CASA. Destiny is a TBRI Practitioner, a Be Strong Certified Trainer and plays a pivotal role in facilitating collaboration among various entities, ensuring that families have access to the necessary tools and assistance needed for successful growth and development. In addition to her professional achievements, Destiny actively engages in community initiatives and strives to make a positive impact on the lives of others. She believes in giving back to the community and often participates in volunteer efforts throughout the Central Louisiana Region.
