2026 CAPITOL DAY
United for Louisiana’s children
Join Louisiana CASA and local CASA programs from across the state for CASA Day at the Capitol, a powerful day of advocacy, education, and collaboration at the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge on May 27, 2026. CASA staff, volunteers, and supporters will gather in the Rotunda to connect with legislators, share resources, and highlight the critical role CASA advocates play in supporting children and youth involved in the foster care system. Together, we will raise awareness about the needs of Louisiana’s most vulnerable children and the importance of ensuring every child has a safe, permanent, and nurturing home.
Attendees are encouraged to wear CASA colors to show their support for CASA and the children and families we serve. The day will include a proclamation reading from the Governor’s Office officially recognizing May 27th as “CASA Day” as well as a resolution presentation during legislative session highlighting CASA’s statewide impact. A special pinning ceremony will also take place in the Rotunda to honor CASA staff and volunteers with commemorative pins recognizing their dedication and service to Louisiana’s children.

LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY
Why capitol day matters
Capitol Day is an opportunity to make our voices heard at the Louisiana State Capitol, bringing together CASA advocates, volunteers, staff, board members, and supporters from across the state to champion children and families involved in the foster care system. Legislators play a critical role in shaping laws, policies, and funding decisions that impact child welfare, and hearing directly from constituents helps them better understand the importance of supporting Louisiana’s CASA programs and the children we serve.
By attending CASA Day at the Capitol, you help raise awareness, build relationships with lawmakers, and demonstrate the strength of our statewide advocacy network. Your presence shows that Louisiana’s children deserve dedicated advocates, safe and permanent homes, and the resources needed to thrive. Together, we can elevate the voices of children in foster care, strengthen support for CASA programs, and create meaningful change for children and families across Louisiana.

PROCLAMATION & RESOLUTION
A special thank you
We are grateful to the Governor’s Office and Louisiana legislators for recognizing the vital work of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) programs and advocates across our state. During CASA Day at the Capitol, the Governor’s Office will officially proclaim May 27th as “CASA Day at the Capitol,” honoring the impact CASA staff and volunteers make in the lives of children and families involved in the foster care system.
We also extend a special thank you to Kathy Edmonston for sponsoring a legislative resolution recognizing CASA’s statewide impact and the dedication of the advocates, staff, and volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure every child has a voice.
These recognitions help elevate awareness of child welfare issues and reinforce the importance of advocacy, permanency, and support for Louisiana’s children. We are thankful for the continued leadership and partnership of those who stand alongside CASA in creating brighter futures for children and families across our state.
