Training of Facilitators (TOF)

About the Training:

The Louisiana CASA Association is pleased to announce a new opportunity for local program staff that will be facilitating new volunteer training. Volunteers are the lifeblood of CASA programs and the foundation of the National CASA/GAL Association’s CASA program core model for advocacy. One of the greatest impacts you will have in preparing your volunteers for this vital and challenging work is through pre-service training. Louisiana CASA is dedicated to ensuring that each program has access to relevant adult learning and skills-based facilitator training to maximize your volunteers’ learning and preparation, which will, ultimately, improve the outcomes of the children you serve. 

The Training of Facilitators will focus on the methods of delivering the National CASA Training Curriculum. We will include learning best practices for delivery environments. Over the course of two days, participants will grow their skills as training professionals as they learn and practice the methods required to build volunteer competencies. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required by August 21, 2026. In advance of the TOF, participants must thoroughly review and have participated in at least one version of the pre-service curricula. Attendance at both sessions is required to successfully complete the training. In addition to traditional “classroom” learning, participants will have the opportunity to practice their skills through peer-led facilitated activities. 

Lodging and Meals:

For participants in need of lodging, Louisiana CASA has reserved 10 rooms at the Holiday Inn in Covington, Louisiana. Rooms are available at a first come, first serve basis. When you register, there will be a question to indicate if you need a hotel room. If yes, Louisiana CASA will book your room. Breakfast will be provided by the hotel for those staying overnight. The training will take place in the meeting room of the hotel.

This TOF training will be held September 9^th and 10^th, in Covington, Louisiana. Louisiana CASA will cover the cost of lunch on both days for all participants and hotel rooms for up to 10 participants. 

• Louisiana CASA will book and cover the cost of hotel rooms the nights of September 8^th and 9^th. Check out is on September 10^th. 

• Continental breakfast will be provided by the hotel for those who have a reserved room. Lunch will be provided by Louisiana CASA for both days of the training (September 9^th and 10^th). 

• The local program will be responsible for hotel charges for any cancellation received after August 21, 2026. 

TOF Training Schedule: 

• Wednesday, September 9^th –      9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

• Thursday, September 10^th–      9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
