A Season of Giving: Louisiana Communities Come Together for Children in Foster Care

ree

This holiday season, communities across Louisiana are coming together in a powerful way to support children in foster care. CASA programs across Louisiana are hosting a toy drive to ensure that every child served by CASA receives a holiday gift. From north to south and everywhere in between, individuals, families, businesses, schools, and organizations are stepping up to help make this goal a reality.

Communities are finding meaningful ways to get involved - donating toys, making monetary contributions, hosting drives at workplaces and local businesses, volunteering time to wrap gifts, and spreading the word to encourage others to give. These collective efforts reflect a shared commitment to ensuring children in foster care feel supported and remembered during the holiday season.

For many children in foster care, the holidays can be a challenging time. Experiences of trauma, uncertainty, and transition can make the season especially difficult. A thoughtfully chosen gift, however, can provide a sense of joy, normalcy, and comfort. More importantly, it sends a powerful message: you matter, and your community cares about you.

CASA volunteers and staff across the state are working diligently to coordinate these toy drives, organize donations, and prepare gifts for the children they serve. Their dedication, paired with the generosity of community partners and supporters, helps bring hope and happiness to children during a time when it is needed most.

At Louisiana CASA, we are incredibly proud of our local programs and grateful for the communities that continue to show up for children in foster care. These ongoing toy drives are a reminder of the impact that collective compassion can have: when communities come together, children feel seen, valued, and supported.

As the holiday season continues, we invite everyone to be part of this season of giving. Whether through donating a toy, making a financial contribution, volunteering time, or helping spread the word, your support helps ensure that children across Louisiana experience the warmth and joy of the holidays.
