It is hard to believe we have already reached December. This year moved quickly, and like many of you, I have spent time reflecting on how much has happened in what often felt like a blur. Our network has taken on significant work, met challenges head on, and continued to show up for children in ways that are steady, practical, and meaningful. That commitment does not slow down simply because the holiday season begins.
The holidays add a unique level of chaos. Schedules tighten, responsibilities shift, and expectations grow. It is easy for people and priorities to get lost in the holiday shuffle. The children we serve feel this more strongly than most. Their routines may change without warning, placements may shift, and uncertainty often becomes more visible during this time of year.
In the middle of all of this, CASA remains a source of stability. Volunteers bring consistency and attention to details that can easily be overlooked when everything becomes busier. Staff keep cases moving and ensure that children do not fade into the background of a crowded season. Local programs continue to provide the structure and presence that children rely on, even when schedules and circumstances are unpredictable.
This year, we introduced Home for the Holidays as our statewide theme for the season. It serves as a reminder of what our work aims to secure for every child who enters the foster care system. Home represents more than a physical place. It reflects safety, permanence, and a sense of belonging that carries into adulthood. By using this theme across our holiday communications and community outreach, we want to keep the focus on what truly matters during this time of year. Our efforts throughout the season point back to this shared goal of ensuring that every child moves closer to a stable and permanent home.
As people move through December, many look for ways to reconnect with what matters most. For some, that means giving their time. For others, it means supporting local programs, donating gifts for children, or participating in seasonal giving efforts. No matter the form it takes, these gestures reflect a shared understanding that children in foster care should not be overlooked during a time when stability and belonging are so deeply felt. We are grateful for the individuals, families, and organizations who choose to stand with us during this season and throughout the year.
As we close out the year, I find myself especially grateful for the people who make up our Louisiana CASA network. Our staff, volunteers, supporters, partners, and friends approach this work with dedication, professionalism, and a level of heart that is not easily captured in words. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I am honored to work alongside each of you. Thank you for staying centered on children, even in the busiest and most demanding moments. I truly love this CASA tribe and could not be more grateful for the commitment you bring to our mission every single day.
