Lakondra Hines named Louisiana’s CASA Volunteer of the Month

Congratulations to Lakondra Hines for being selected as Louisiana’s CASA Volunteer of the Month!

Lakondra is a veteran of the United States Navy, a mother, grandmother, and a widow. She is the founder of two navy vets’ foundations and loves serving her community in multiple capacities. Lakondra received her associate’s and bachelor’s degree in child protection and juvenile justice. She is also currently working towards her master’s degree in nonprofit administration.

Lakondra has been a CASA volunteer with CASA of the 16th JDC since 2014. When asked why she chose to become a volunteer, she said “At one point in my life I was a foster child. I enjoy being a voice for those children that feel as though they have no one on their side and everyone has turned their backs on them.” As for advice for fellow CASA volunteers, Lakondra says to always keep in mind that as a volunteer, you are advocating for the child’s best interest and what is best for them. She also emphasizes that it takes all CASA advocates to make a difference in these child’s lives.

CASA of the 16th JDC staff says “Lakondra is definitely a bright light in our organization. Not only has she helped countless children, but she has also helped other advocates get settled in and mentor them through some of their struggles of being an advocate”. They also are delighted that she decided to work directly with our CASA children and mention that she is truly a blessing for not only the CASA children but also the entire organization.

The mission of Louisiana CASA is to provide a well-trained CASA volunteer to advocate for every child in the judicial system due to abuse or neglect. Our mission would not be possible without the help of people like you.

On behalf of the children we serve, thank you Lakondra for your commitment and service.
