Official Statement from Amanda Moody, State Director of Louisiana CASA
As the State Director of Louisiana CASA, I want to assure our partners, supporters, and the public that our local CASA programs across Louisiana remain strong, stable, and fully committed to advocating for children in foster care.
The recent developments regarding the National CASA/GAL Association and its federal funding have understandably raised questions and concerns. Louisiana CASA has been closely monitoring this situation for some time and, early on, anticipated the possibility that the National CASA/GAL Association could lose Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) funding. In response, we have taken proactive steps—putting safeguards and strategies in place to ensure continuity of service and support across our network.
Our CASA programs in Louisiana operate with a high degree of local autonomy, and the vast majority of funding for Louisiana’s CASA programs comes from diverse state, local, and private sources—not from the National CASA/GAL Association. While a small number of programs in Louisiana received limited, project-specific funding through the National CASA/GAL Association that may be affected, our core services and commitment to children remain strong and fully operational. The challenges at the national level are not interrupting local service delivery, and our work on behalf of children continues without disruption.
At the same time, we recognize the critical role that the National CASA/GAL Association plays in leading and supporting the CASA movement across the country. We fully support their efforts to appeal the funding decision and to strengthen the systems and structures needed to move forward. We are hopeful that this work will result in a positive resolution, and we stand with them in this process.
We will continue to implement clear communication and coordinated advocacy efforts to ensure our programs remain strong and that the children we serve stay at the heart of everything we do. Our focus remains on strengthening our statewide network, supporting our volunteers, and ensuring every child has a voice.
Thank you for standing with us and for continuing to support the vital work of CASA in Louisiana. Our commitment to children remains unwavering. We will continue to advocate with clarity, act with integrity, and lead with purpose—for the children who need us most.
